The CRC-sponsored 1988 BMW E30 M3 ground-breaking build project serves as platform for fundraising
Horsham, PA – CRC Industries, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of specialty products and formulations for maintenance and repair professionals and do-it-yourselfers, and the maker of CRC Brakleen®, the #1 selling brake parts cleaner worldwide, has partnered with the student-led Honest Assembly team and automotive industry mentors to build a modified 1988 E30 M3. The ultimate goal of the build was to raise money for the Morgan Adams Foundation, a charity that helps fund pediatric cancer research.
CRC challenged the college students-turned-amateur-builders to build a 1988 BMW E30 M3 with a S55 engine modified to 550-hp from an F80 M3. The inspiration for the innovative engine swap was a desire to bring awareness to the unique maintenance needs of GDI engines and the company’s now-patented CRC GDI IVD® Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner. The installation of the modern GDI engine in the classic BMW would be the first of its kind in the world. The Honest Assembly build project was completed in 11 months and the vehicle won a top 12 finish overall and top 3 in its class at SEMA’s prestigious Battle of the Builders in 2018.
A video series chronicling the build process will debut on the popular automotive news YouTube channel, ‘The Drive.’ CRC will donate to the Morgan Adams Foundation $0.05 for each of the first 1 million views of the video with a goal of raising $250,000.
Louis Fresta, CRC vice president of sale and marketing, noted, “CRC was celebrating a major company milestone in 2018, our 60th year of business, and wanted to mark the occasion in an impactful way. We had a unique opportunity to collaborate on the vehicle build with the Honest Assembly team, while providing fundraising support to the Morgan Adams Foundation, an excellent organization chosen by the students. We hope that through this video campaign, we can help raise awareness and deliver much-needed financial support to a worthy cause.”
At the 2019 AAPEX show, CRC will provide t-shirts featuring the BMW design to trade show attendees who donate a minimum of $1.00 to the Morgan Adams Foundation. CRC will match all donations up to $5,000 for a total fundraising goal of $10,000.
The first episode of the CRC and Honest Assembly video series will be released following this year’s AAPEX show and can be viewed on The Drive’s YouTube channel: youtube.com/user/drive
